News that pop superstar Prince had no will in place to manage the distribution of estimated $300M fortune has caused many to consider writing a will now. In New Jersey this is particularly important since state law has some of the most complex and highest inheritance and estate taxes in the United States.
According to Gartenberg Howard partner Amie Gartenberg,
“With Prince, it’s not surprising at all that he may not have had a will,” Gartenberg said. “A number of people who have very significant wealth do not do planning. People just don’t want to think about it.”
